With a baby boy on the way we are aiming to wrap up a few house projects before he makes his arrival. One of those being switching Leo to his new “big” toddler room.
Leo’s big bedroom is now finished and he loves it! My goal was to create a sweet, toddler bedroom that could grow with him over time, which is a large part of the reason we jumped right to a queen size bed (hoping he will have it for years to come). A queen sized bed also comes in handy for those nights where he needs some extra snuggles – more space for mom or dad.
I loosely went with an explore/outdoor theme for his room, incorporating decor and art that tie into the outdoors, but mostly just picked things that he (and we) love. I kept decor to a minimum, knowing his tastes will change and evolve. Plus, I like a kids space that leaves room for imagination and isn’t overly cluttered.

A Little Reading Nook
I added in a small bookshelf (that was mine when I was a kid – thanks for saving it mom!) and the cutest little rocking chair I found at a local thrift store.
A New Big Bed
We love his “big” bed. It has clean, modern lines, while also feeling fairly classic. A sconce he can turn on and off by himself, a few of his favorite books for bedtime, and a trio of dinosaur pictures for our dino loving boy.
Contrast Trim & and Wall-Mounted Bookshelf
I have been wanting to incorporate contrast trim somewhere in our home and Leo’s room felt like a good place to start. It makes the room feel a little special and unique without adding any additional wall-moulding.
We included a tall bookshelf to fit the small space next to the closet and make a place to add a few special momentos and things we use on a daily basis.
We are so happy with how his room turned out and are excited to see how it grows with him through the years.
