If you are new to the blog, welcome! I am an accountant by day and started this blog as a way to pursue my passion of design, renovation, and all things home. We bought our house two years ago and are slowly renovating it room by room.

It’s week two of the One Room Challenge. If you missed the first week you can catch up on it here!

We are overhauling our den for this challenge and we started with a room full of boxes and lots of items that needed to be donated. This past week we completely emptied the space so it is ready to be transformed. We also mostly finalized the design plan for the space.

The only items we really haven’t agreed on are the chairs we want to use. I want something that is comfortable, cozy, and casual, like the white Ikea chair shown above. Nathan would prefer something a little more modern like this World Market chair. If we end up going with the chair Nathan wants that may lead to changing the style/coloring of the rug we would want. This weekend we plan to test the chairs out in person so we can make a final decision (hopefully bringing two chairs home with us) so we can order the rug!

I have ordered a number of items for the space already and I am so excited for them to arrive! The emerald green ottoman had been calling my name for a while now and it was honestly the jumping off point for this space.

In addition to testing out chairs this weekend we need to pick out the tile we want for the fireplace, decide on paint colors, and hopefully start painting!

Here’s everything we have left to get the space completed:

• install gas insert in fireplace
• retile & paint fireplace
• paint room
• install window coverings
• buy two chairs
• order rug
• order lamps
• order & frame art
• side/console table (we plan to refinish an existing dresser to save money!)
• decorate and style the space!

There’s a lot to do for this space, but hopefully we can knock a good chunk out this weekend! I’ll be back with weekly updates for each of the next 4 weeks, but in the meantime be sure to check out the other participants.
