It is finally feeling like spring here in Kansas City, I just hope it stays that way! I have been craving some spring time changes in our house with fresh flowers and pops of lighter and brighter colors.
What better way to celebrate the coming of spring than with a spring home tour! A huge thank you to Mansa of Simplicite Design and Sweets for putting this fun spring home tour blog hop together. If you are coming from are coming from Christene’s beautiful home at Keys to Inspiration, welcome! I tend to opt for simple changes season by season, focusing on incorporating fresh and faux greenery, and by swapping out artwork, pillow covers, and decor. I may purchase one or two things for a new season, but I try to keep things lower cost by working with what I have. I love shopping my house to make things work in a new way, or to just freshen things up when I’m craving a change. This spring I focused on keeping things light and bright, while adding in pops of color here and there.
Simple and Bright Living Room
When you enter our front door and walk past the stairs you are welcomed by the living room. I wanted add some greenery to the area between the stairs and wet bar so I was very happy when I found this faux olive tree. I usually gravitate towards real greenery and plants, but I have had a hard time keep plants alive and thriving in our north facing home! The tree is really the perfect size for this space.
The built-in shelves next to our hidden wet bar are one of my favorite things to style for the seasons. I love displaying our favorite items from trips, books, and thrifted treasures I’ve found.
I added a new DIY abstract art piece (blog post coming soon!) above my favorite dresser that is a family heirloom. Combined with a few pretty colored and interestingbooks, a pink bloom, a ceramic bird, and a mini framed rose that I thrifted I think it adds the perfect bright and airy feel this space needed for spring.
I swapped out the top piece of artwork hanging on the paneled wall behind our couch with a pretty oil painting of paris in the spring. This was something my dad had found me at an estate sale and is something I will always treasure.
The rest of the living room has remained largely the same, but I swapped out the pillow covers for textures and colors that feel fresh for spring.

A Fresh Spring Kitchen
I love to combine classic and modern elements in our kitchen. I do not care to have a lot of items cluttering our countertops, but I did add in a few spring touches to brighten the space up for the season. Fresh flowers in a simple vase are always a go to. They instantly make any space feel happier and brighter to me.
I added a small landscape print above the thrifted framed print we have to the left of the window. A fresh plant by the window in a pretty plaid pot adds a little color and helps bring the outside in. It may not completely feel like spring here yet, but I am still dreaming of cooking with the windows open and eating dinners on the patio.
A little secret about me… I have stash of small accent rugs that I like to swap out as the seasons change. They are typically inexpensive and are a good way to add in a bit of a different color into a space – while not taking up a ton of storage space when I put one or two away for a season. I brought back one of my favorite vintage accent rugs for a little color in our otherwise neutral kitchen.

Spring Powder Room Touches
Our powder room is small, but it packs a mighty punch with the white shiplap walls and contrasting navy upper portion of the wall.
I added a few seasonal touches with some faux greenery tucked in a sweet pink vase. I also added a cream soap dish to display a pretty soap (that as a bonus smells good too!)

Simple Spring Master Bedroom
Similar to the rest of the house I just added a few simple spring touches to our bedroom. We are currently in the process of refreshing our bedroom and though some of the additions I added, like the rug I borrowed from our entryway, are not permanent I still like the warmth and color they add for spring. I finally ordered a new, larger, rug for our bedroom as part of our bedroom refresh – stay tuned!
Fresh flowers on the night stand are a special touch (and the pup on the bed adds some sweetness too).
