With each passing year I want to simplify more and more. That applies to my holiday décor too. I want to create simple, but cozy spaces. The more I have in my house means there is more to clean and upkeep. When it comes to holiday décor I really do love to make our home feel festive, but I really focus more on festive touches that still have a big impact – think rich greenery, faux fur, velvet, and twinkle lights. I try to not add a lot of other seasonal decorative accents, though I do sprinkle a few in!

ENTRYWAY
I decked our entryway by added simple faux garland with black velvet bows to our stair railings. I also added a simple DIY modern hoop wreath above my favorite vintage chair.
DINING ROOM
In our dining room I added a wood tree and 3 small figurines my mom gave me from her collection. The dresser that acts as a buffet is the perfect spot to add a few seasonal pieces.
LIVING ROOM
Our stairwell can be seen from both the entry and our living room – the garland with ribbons really adds a lot of impact to our living room too! On our accent table I added a small faux tree to my favorite gold planter with two small white ceramic houses (I do want to slowly create a collection of these little white houses – so cute and classic).
The coffee table shows a bit of real life – an in progress puzzle! After we decked the halls we started our favorite winter puzzle of Yosemite in the winter. Knowing us it will be in progress for a few weeks and to me it is a sweet nod to the holiday season because it’s special to us.
Our Christmas tree is really the focal of the room, especially when it’s all lit up!
I opted to display a smaller amount of mostly neutral ornaments this year. We have so many that it’s fairly easy to create a “theme” because we almost never use all of them each year. This year I added 3 new feather ornaments in honor of each of our angel babies because they will always be in our hearts and I think of them even more frequently during the holiday season.
On the mantle I kept our same art, modern abstract and seascape watercolor, but added in my favorite reindeer statue, faux fur stockings (1 each for Nathan and I, and 1 each for the dogs), a jingle bell garland and some greens in my staple tall vase.
KITCHEN
I kept things real simple in the kitchen. A garland with twinkle lights above sink, greens in a vase, my newest candle obsession, and mandarins in wooden bowl.
I hope this inspires you that simple touches can still be magical!
