I first posted about our main closet renovation plans in early November last year and I said we would be doing it in phases. Well, I was certainly right about that. We started the closet late last year, yay! And we installed about 1/2 of the IKEA PAX units that we plan to use, which got our closet to a functional point, now we can actually hang out clothes up again. Then all progress stopped and we’ve just lived with our closet as is. Life with a baby certainly draws out project timelines for us and that is a-okay. Slow and steady is where we are at.
This is where the closet currently stands. This shows the one side of the PAX built ins we’ve installed, that has been partially trimmed out. It’s currently very unorganized (for us). We are trimming all of the units out and painting everything to get a true built-in look. We will install baseboards along the bottom and crown moulding along the ceiling.
Now we need to install the other side of the units (where the shoes are currently piled up on the floor). This side will be more shallow in depth to allow for a sufficient walkway down the center of the closet. We are hoping to get to IKEA this weekend to pick up the remaining supplies we need to get the last boxes installed!
Then we will be onto finishing all the trim work, painting, and decorating!
As a reminder, this is the overall vision I have for the closet.

This is a reminder that real life renovations take time, so much time, especially when you go the DIY route.
