Happy Friday, friends! Instead of a Friday 5 post today I wanted to share fun holiday cocktail recipe I made last weekend. I love a cocktail that isn’t too sweet, and not too strong. This drink fits the bill! It’s nice and refreshing, while still having typical holiday flavorings.
One of my favorite drinks is a Moscow Mule and I like to try my own variations of this traditional drink based on the season.

For this combination I used my favorite copper mugs. I love using these mugs because they keep the drinks nice and cold. We got our mugs for a gift and I am not sure where they are from, but you can find a set similar to what we have here – this set is currently on major sale and would make a great gift for someone who likes to make cocktails or even mocktails!
I tend to not follow “exact” measurements when mixing drinks (or following recipes for that matter), I really just adjust the ingredients to taste.
The following are the ingredients you will need to make one cocktail:
- 1/2 cup crushed ice
- 1 ounce whiskey
- 1 tbsp lemon juice, plus slice for garnish
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 1 Cranberry La Croix (could sub for other flavors, if desired)
- 1 ginger beer
- 1 cinnamon stick
Add crushed ice to halfway fill the mug. Pour 1 ounce of whiskey over the crushed ice, the juice of 1/8 of a lemon (one wedge), and a dash of maple syrup. Add Cranberry La Croix until the mug is nearly full. To top off the drink add a splash of ginger beer (I use whatever I can find at our local grocery store), a lemon wedge, and a cinnamon stick.
The ginger beer really rounds out the flavor of the cocktail and the cinnamon stick is a nice touch. The longer the cinnamon stick sits in the drink the more flavor it adds, it’s a subtle flavor, but I love how it brings in that taste that is reminiscent of the holidays. Plus the cinnamon stick is a fun stirring tool you can you to mix up the cocktail as you drink it!
Hope you all enjoy the weekend!
