We’ve had our Loloi area rug in our living room for almost 2 and half years now. I thought it would be helpful to write an honest Loloi area rug review post – how it’s holding up, including how pet & kid friendly it is and if we’d buy it again.

For reference, our rug is the now ever popular Loloi Layla area rug in the olive color way.

WHAT WE LIKE

Loloi Rug Review - The Adored Abode

I’ll start out by saying we are not easy on our rugs. We have 2 dogs and a baby. Our living room rug especially is very well loved.

THE MATERIAL

I was initially surprised that the rug pattern is actually printed on to rug fabric. It is made to look like a traditional vintage rug, but the colors of the pattern don’t actually go through the fabric. The fabric material is very soft (much softer than most vintage rugs). It’s not scratchy at all, which is a huge plus since we spend a lot of time on the floor with the baby.

THE PRICE POINT

For the size of the rug, the price is incredible. Less than $500 for a 9×12 area rug was a huge selling point for me.

EASY TO CLEAN

The thin material is definitely a positive when it comes to cleaning the rug. There are no traditional carpet fibers for dog hair and crumbs to get stuck in, the rug is more of a smooth material. This makes vacuuming and cleaning up spills a breeze. This makes the rug exceptionally kid and pet friendly.

WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

THE THICKNESS OF THE RUG

The rug is very thin. I think this is common for any printed-style rug. With a cushy rug pad underneath it is much more comfortable. Definitely not a deal breaker for us since adding a rug pad is such an easy fix, plus this helps the rug (any rug really) stay in place.

THE PRINTED PATTERN

I would not change the pattern itself, but because it is printed the color does fade over time, mainly in higher traffic areas. I don’t mind the fading too much because I feel that it adds more character and gives the impression of a true vintage rug that would be worn in some areas more that others. I was surprised at how quickly some spots faded though. In retrospect, we should have been rotating the rug to have it wear in a more even manner.

WOULD WE BUY IT AGAIN?

Yes, we would buy it again! Despite the fading on the rug, I do still love it. It’s the easiest rug to vacuum and spills clean up nicely, plus the pattern hides any stains. Very kid and pet friendly, plus I love the way it looks too.

    1. Yeah it kinda looks faded, but then again these types of rugs are catered to families and people who wish to avoid laborious carpet cleaning, so I’m still interested in checking them out

      1. Most of the fading is intentional fading and unique color of the rug to make it appear vintage, but there are some spots in heavy traffic areas that have faded.
