Even though we have had no guests stay with us recently, I want to give our guest room a small refresh for when we do hopefully have people stay with us again in the future!
Our guest room currently consists of a bed with very tattered and hole filled bedding, curtains and a few pieces of art! The bones of the room are great and it’s already painted so we are off to a great start. We always joke that this is Pete’s bedroom. He loves to come up here, run zoomies, and curl up on the bed. The bed is almost always unmade because he runs around and throws all of the pillows off of the bed. He’s one funny dog.
If you think the guest room looks familiar, it’s because it probably does! When we originally renovated this room we planned on it being the nursery. Well, after Leo was born we wound up wanting to switch the nursery to what we call the “green room”. So we moved all of his nursery items into the green room and the guest bed into the nursery. Yes, we may be crazy, but we are both so glad we made the switch.
The green room as the nursery just feels like it was meant to be this way all along.
Back to the guest room refresh. The main things I am hoping to accomplish with this refresh is to replace the bedding, add matching nightstands and lamps, and rearrange/add more artwork! I still love the paint color and bead board we added. And I LOVE the curtains. I added a vintage runner to the room to test out if I liked the colors in here and I really do – so that will be staying as well! Really, this is a very minor refresh, but I’m excited to do it. This is not something that “needs” to be done so I am challenging myself to refresh this space, but focus on doing it as inexpensively as I can. I will be searching for items second hand as a first priority.
This is my vision for the space.
The main “new” things in the room will be bedding, nightstands, lamps, artwork, and a mirror. Keeping it simple, but functional and pretty for guests. If you follow along on my Instagram stories you probably saw that I already found nightstands and potentially some lamps that I plan to use in the space – both found at a thrift store! Searching second hand is already paying off.
