I saw a few variations of a simple hoop wreath last Christmas and knew I wanted to make one of my own this year!
This is a really simple DIY and is one that can be switched up from season to season.
THE MATERIALS
- floral hoop
- floral wire
- cedar sprigs (I bought real from Trader Joe’s, but faux is also a good option since you could trim it to size)
- 36” of ribbon (this is similar to what I used)
- wire cutting pliers
THE PROCESS
I knew I wanted mine to be a bit more simple to go with my typical aesthetic, but you could make it as full as you wanted!
Lay your floral hoop on a flat surface – I chose my kitchen table.
Play around with your greenery until you get the desired shape you want keeping in mind where you want the top and bottom of the hoop to be. In my original shapes all I kept seeing was hair or a mustache so I tweaked until it didn’t look like either.
Take the floral wire and cut off 3-4 working pieces about 2 inches long each.
With your greenery in the position you want around your hoop wrap the pieces of floral wire around the greenery stem and hoop adhering the greenery to the hoop from bottom to top of the greenery. Take care to not “tie down” any of the leaves as you go – you want these to be fluffy and have movement!
Use the ribbon to tie a bow around the bottom of the hoop as a decorative accent.
This is perfect for winter greenery, but I can also see reusing this for different seasons by swapping out the type of greenery used!
