Christmas Home Tour

November 28, 2017

Hi friends! This week I wanted to share a Christmas home tour to show you all of the decor we added around the house for the holidays. I try to sprinkle bits of Christmas cheer throughout our house so each room has at least a nod to the season. Grab a cup of coffee or wine… because there’s a lot of pictures coming your way!

We’ll start out in the living room, which is the focal point right when you walk in our front door.

Ever since we first moved into our house I knew the Christmas tree would go in front of one of those windows flanking the fireplace. It’s just the perfect spot for it. Our tree is a bit eclectic and we don’t really have “theme”, which I love because that means it has all of our ornaments on it, including the sentimental ones.

I kept our favorite picture (that I shared in a blog post here) on our mantle and added in some simple decor: a tall wooden tree, a silver reindeer figurine, and a white ceramic tree on top of stacked books for added height.

Hanging from the mantle are our stockings (one for each of us and one for each dog, of course). I tied dark green ribbon to each of the stockings for a bit of added color. I also strung two different types of garland for a bit of added texture and lightness. One is a miniature jingle bell garland and the other is a wooden bead garland.

On our hearth I added two throw pillows (my go to are velvet and faux fur from Ikea!) and the peace scrabble sign, one of my favorite Christmas items because it’s a daily reminder of what is important .

On our coffee table I put decorative brass jingle bells in a small, clear vase and added faux lamb’s ear sprigs to a white vase… next to our basket that holds all the remotes (real life decor).

Behind our couch are the built-in shelves/wet bar area. I kept some of our normal decor items and sprinkled in some bits of Christmas here and there, like our metal nativity set, mini bottle brush trees, an “oh deer” sign, a snowflake blanket, and my favorite addition – the boxwood wreath hanging by plaid ribbon.

In the kitchen I added a lighted garland above the sink and my favorite winter candle. Simple, but festive. This view makes doing dishes a whole lot merrier.

Next to our living is our master bedroom. I didn’t really added any holiday decor to our bedroom, but I did add a faux eucalyptus wreath hanging from a plaid ribbon in the hallway right out side our door. I love this so much that it may live here year round (swapping out the ribbon, of course). This wreath directly mirrors the boxwood wreath hanging from our built-ins so I think it ties the two spaces together a bit.

Looking back towards our front door is the dining room. I added our very first Christmas tree that we had from our apartment days to the dining room. I place it on a small metal side table and used extra fabric I had on hand as a makeshift tree skirt. We do not do much in terms of exterior decorations, but in the picture above you can see a boxwood wreath hanging on the window.

Our little dining room tree is small, but it sure is mighty. This tree is slightly flocked and very nicely filled out. I love, love, love it! It’s from Target from 4 years ago, but they sadly don’t sell it anymore. I wish they would make a full size tree exactly like it because I would buy it in a heartbeat!

That’s about it! Simple holiday decor is where it’s at for us. I hope you enjoyed it!
