Bathroom Updates: Art & Cabinet Hardware

Modern Traditional Bathroom - The Adored Abode

Our bathroom is so very close to officially being complete! We have been using it for a few months now and love, love, love it! I still can’t believe it’s our bathroom. We were living upstairs during the bathroom renovation and we finally moved back downstairs a few weekends ago with the help of Nathan’s brother! We are still waiting to finish our closet… Ikea is now opening up again (we plan to use the Ikea PAX system for our built in closets), but we haven’t braved going there yet. So we made a make-shift closet rail to hang our clothes temporarily and decided we’d just move back downstairs knowing we would get to our closet hopefully soon.

The main functioning aspects of our bathroom have been finished for a while, but I have been slowly finishing up the decor, which is the fun part!

Over the past few weeks I swapped out the cabinet hardware, added art, and accessories! The only thing we are waiting on now is a new window treatment and it should be arriving this week.

New Cabinet Hardware

If you follow along on Instagram you may have seen that I replaced the cabinet hardware on the vanity. Originally, I spray painted the hardware that came with the vanity gold and was planning to use that. After sitting with it for a while I knew this was a compromise because it did not achieve the look I was going for, I just didn’t want to spend $40+ a piece on hardware. The existing hardware was really modern and chunky, I wanted something that was softer and more traditional. Plus, we already had a decent amount of gold in the bathroom so I wanted to bring in more black to tie in with the mirrors. I made it my mission to find affordable hardware that fit my vision. I’m so happy I did because I love the new look.

Deciding on Art

It took me a while to decide on art for the bathroom. I was aiming for a mix of modern and more traditional pieces (my favorite combo) and I wanted the art to feel special.

I landed on small offset gallery wall above the toilet – to distract from the fact that the toilet is not centered on the wall (it couldn’t be because of the floor joist positioning). The gallery wall has an abstract brush stroke print I created a while ago, a beautiful watercolor seascape, and one of my favorite painted ladies by Laurie Ann Art!

I also added a small piece of art in between the mirrors. I found this beautiful oak tree sketch print on Etsy and it feels special because we both love trees, a lot. I am so happy with how all of the art pieces flow together, but don’t “match”.

We have been loving our bathroom and I can’t wait to share more after the new window treatment is installed!
